I want to know if keeping the 12R and spending a grand or so to make it produce simular power is worth it and within easy financial reach

There are STILL no official figures re: weight, power output etc etc, however, there are rumours doing the rounds and reports from people who have seen them at bike shows.
This from MCN:
KAWASAKI ZZ-R1400
WE’RE just a couple ofweeks away from finally answering the question of how much power the new Kawasaki ZZ-R1400 really makes. The firm is due to put the new machine into production in less than a month, and the final fuel injection specification must be decided before then. The engine is capable of well in excess of 200bhp, according to Kawasaki insiders, but whether it is offered for sale tuned to its full potential depends on an imminent decision from the firm.
Rumours have horsepower standing at anywhere between 175 and 180 hp at the rear wheel. They are also suggesting that torque will be in the region of 110 (something or others... no one says what unit of measurement is being used).
As for weight, this from someone who sat on a 14 at a US bike show:
"The ZX-12 has a 465 lbs dry weight and I'd estimate the ZX-14 to be 30 to 40 pounds less from feel; even if its not much lighter, the balance and Center of Gravity are much better than it's predecessor"
Others are suggesting 196kg dy, or around 232kg wet.
All just rumours at the moment, but rumours have to start somewhere....
