yes were all naughty, seriously tho i believe the bikes can adjust lines etc quicker than cars to avoid collisions, take up much less road space (if sum1 walks out in front of u etc)...i also believe the weight makes em pretty easy to stop...im a chronic speeder, i cant help myself, but i TRY to behave around town etc...and when i get caught, i whinge a lot,pay the fine, and get over it...
i got done for DUI, and as much as sum of u may wanna judge me, abuse me or woteva, really its only MY opinion/ reaction that matters..no offence guys, but u r not incontrol of my right arm and mouth....its ME who has to learn from the mistake (which i think i have)...
this thread started out as shifty asking for advice on how to deal with it, not so we could flame him/me abt our stupidity, or tell every1 we r god-like (even tho none of u are like me).....
opinions are like assholes....
so back to the thread topic?? or do we just flame him/me/coco/ne1 else whos been naughty a bit more so we have an argument, get out backs up & defend our actions & make excuses...

shifty mate, go back to my 1st post i made, see if u can use ne of my tips to help get u thru...good luck mate, and if ne1 tries to judge u/flame u..u send em to deal with me....

It has been an interesting thread nonetheless, seems that hipocrisy is common amongst riders (note that some of the goody-goodies have piped down after my/tanya's 'you speed too' comments). I may be outspoken but I'll never be eating my words about that 200/60 thread... and I may hate getting booked but this ticket will unlikely change my riding style as I am generally glued to the speed limit unless going for it out in the country or through the hills... purely bad luck this one and that's that.

It turns out I get to keep a license of sorts so I will just have to be particularly good for the next 12 months. I very keenly look forward to getting killed because I wasn't game enough to overtake or merge safely, sat in someone's blind spot at 60km/h or didn't accelerate past a car that seemed dangerous/erratic. If they claim it's all about safety they really need to have a good think about it.

Blue, sorry to hear about your ticket, how a modern bike doing 78km/h in a 60km/h zone is more dangerous than my brother's 2100kg Valiant (or indeed an 80 ton bus or a beaten up old Datsun with drum brakes and $40 tyres) doing the speed limit in the same spot I'll never understand. And that's what makes me dirty about it, I can deal with tickets when I'm using plenty of tyre through the hills but tickets like these give me gas

of course a 2ton valiant or dato with $40 tyres (retreads at that) will pull up much quicker than a bike, bigger contact patch on the road, nicer comfy seat etc....lol..kidding mate, just trying to stir again...lol....
oh yea, i agree with ya mostly...

Hmmm....I remember my old VE Valiant...drum brakes all around, no power assistance. Never went over 90 'cause it took too long to pull up.

Interesting moments the first week I drove it though. It was my first auto, and I kept going for the clutch every time I stopped. Felt like I was doing stoppies as I had the combined power of two legs pushing on a very wide brake pedal...Screeeeeeech!
