It has been an interesting thread nonetheless, seems that hipocrisy is common amongst riders (note that some of the goody-goodies have piped down after my/tanya's 'you speed too' comments). I may be outspoken but I'll never be eating my words about that 200/60 thread... and I may hate getting booked but this ticket will unlikely change my riding style as I am generally glued to the speed limit unless going for it out in the country or through the hills... purely bad luck this one and that's that.
It turns out I get to keep a license of sorts so I will just have to be
particularly good for the next 12 months. I very keenly look forward to getting killed because I wasn't game enough to overtake or merge safely, sat in someone's blind spot at 60km/h or didn't accelerate past a car that seemed dangerous/erratic. If they claim it's all about safety they really need to have a good think about it.
Blue, sorry to hear about your ticket, how a modern bike doing 78km/h in a 60km/h zone is more dangerous than my brother's 2100kg Valiant (or indeed an 80 ton bus or a beaten up old Datsun with drum brakes and $40 tyres) doing the speed limit in the same spot I'll never understand. And that's what makes me dirty about it, I can deal with tickets when I'm using plenty of tyre through the hills but tickets like these give me gas
