You don't actually have to have a modified bike for it to make a difference, once mapped it will benefit the standard bike, but obviously using it with a pipe/filter will give you the biggest gains. If your bike is modified, I highly recommend it, as modifications change the air/fuel ratio that the standard computer doesn't want to know about (most bikes) and can cause dangerous leaning out, jerkiness atc. If you buy one, please spend the money and have your bike mapped properly, no two bikes are the same and that way you will get the maximum benefit out of it.
It's an electrical item, and being such it can fail, pure and simple. But the percentage is quite low for the quanitity of them out there.

What would a PC do to a stock standard bike? I thought the manufacturer would tune the bike to preform to an optimum with the stock pipe.

I agree definately that you need one for aftermarket exhaust and filter.

PC was 450 and custom map dyno tune was 450 for me. Well worth it, felt alot more torquey all round

Well worth the cost IF it is tuned (mapped) properly, I bought one from a dealer in QLD for about $440 when he advertised on this site (I think it was superbike supplies but not 100% sure now) and had Jamie at Bike Care do the dyno thing and gained a shit load of HP along with an improvement of about 50 kilometers per tank of fuel. Cost $250 to have him fit it and do the dyno run. was running a Micron Can and DNA Filters at the time.

In my opinion worth every cent. :kuda:

zx-10r, it comes down to bikes all being different, the stanard ecu just puts the same amount of fuel in.
Benefits are same as a modified bike.. smoother and slightly more power, just obviously not the same horsepower gains, it's more of a rideability thing :)

not talking about installing - talking about custom mapping.

A downloaded map will be about 90% right..
