How about a KSRC sponsored privateer?

I was thinking this morning.... We should consider sponsoring a privateer on a kawasaki.....
I mean, we have hundreds of active members, all of them nuts about the big K and all of them wanting to see a Kwaka on the podium...
If we looked around, I am sure we could find a promising privateer in the Superbike or Supersport class that could use some support....
We offer to cover some of the expenses, and we could show up every now and then at race meetings to cheer him/her on...
Everyone chips in a bit of cash every now and then, have a big giant KSRC logo on the side of the bike...
Also with hundreds of active members asking around, we might just help them get to more sponsors...
Once upon a time I spent some time being sponsorship manager for Lowetech racing in NZ... And its bloody hard to get any sponsorship from corporate crowds.... Smaller companies are most likely to help, but cant contribute much, larger companies dont care unless you are televised... or have some sort of asset they can use...
Just a thought.... whatcha think?

Was kinda thinking along the same lines yesterday actually, thinking we could chip in and sponsor the other Green machine, Danny Green but he lost in the end alas and doubt we would be able to sponsor a boxer for small $ too.

umm u Vic members probably dont read the qld crew's posts..but i suggested that abt 2 months ago..our very Own Hemi who was leading the series up there...a shame hes riding a R1 , tho it would look funny with KSRC all over it..hehe...
maybe we cant get him big $$...but maybe we could get him to the vic/sa/nsw rounds if we could chip in with things like
travel costs
accom (put him up)
race fees
tyres
option??

I think KSRC could get screwed by the mathmatics along the way here.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea and would be behind it 100% - but how much could I honestly afford to put in? How many active members do we have (many a core of 100) and how much can each of them afford to chip in?
How much does it cost to race in a serious series? 20k a yaer easy.
so divide $20,000 by 100 members = $200 a year - round it up to $20 a month. Honestly think we could get that many interested who will shout that much? Great if we could, and would be great for KSRC - wouldn't be worth doing if it wasn't done properly

Yes, but we are not talking about RUNNING a team.... we are talking about SPONSORING a team.... So we dont pay for the entire lot.... you would be right, that would be too expensive...
But we support them with some cash, some accomodation in various states, plus on top of that we help find additional sponsors...

I think it's an awesome idea however i don't think we could ever raise enough regular money to have a top privateer in full KSRC colors. I think it could very well be within our reach to become a secondry sponcer (perhaps 1/4 of each side of the fairing for KSRC) however it would be alot of work by a couple of people to keep chasing the cash ETC.
I'm behind it 100% and with some fine tuning it can happen. If enough people are interested i'll do all i can to help.
A mate who raced 600 supersports a few years back used to put in about $65,000 to do the full series. Lucky he had some good backers who picked up alot of his tab.

Surely we can get enough intrest. I know of a company that will help out with some cash flow as well... I am in and I am sure many others will be too

i wanna go racing again now!!!!
i would suggest that the money put in would cover entry fees, tyres and some accomodation. these tend to be "hole in wallet" making expenses. $380 per meeting for tyres $500 per meeting (ASC) x 6, $150-$200 per meet at state/club level x 4, $50-$75 per night accom x 2 per meet (avg)
basically a figure of $8500. funny thing is, i used to send out sponsorship proposals, asking for $5000, which would have given them the whole bike bar the belly pan!!!
just to cover some of those would lift a very big financial burden.
now excuse me, i have to go and buy a race bike......i'm thinkin zx6rr for superstock.
anyone wanna sponor me?

Yeah there are heaps of guys out there with almost no sponsorship.... Just discounts from shops is enough for them to get their stickers on the bike...
I bet there is at least one guy out there who is giving it a good old aussie go... spending all their own money, having to miss out on some meetings because they just dont have the money... etc etc...
