i got ripped off ...

so my bike needed a new front tyre.

i have a track day booked on saturday so i didnt have time to mess about so i called Action in the city so i could get it done while i work and pick it up after.

I called them and they said $205 for the tyre and $48 for fitting. so roughly 250

I thought it was expensive but another sydney store quoted a similar price so i thought stuff i will just get it done cause i am in a hurry.

take it in today and when i pick it up i discover that it doesnt cost $250 as quoted it costs $275 cause they added the GST.

i complained to the guy and said when people ask for a quote they really should be including GST in the price. he said he agreed but i could tell he dont give a sh!t.

anyway i am pissed off with them and wont be back - i think it was dishonest what they did.

Retail pricing should always be quoted as GST inclusive... You could take this further but for $25, it's probably not worth it... :(

Have fun at the track day man. 8)

Stompy, that's bullshit :(

Gives me the shits when ppl don't add gst, actually had it happen in sydney as well..

yeah i hadnt had it happen before either tanya.

Like dave said for $25 its not worth taking it further but it is still annoying.

on the positive side this tyre feels pretty good. (diablo)
It feels like it tips in much quicker than the standard bridgestone.

i bought a diablo rear a couple months ago when i got a flat and now i finally have the tyres matched again.

i just hoped i can get it scrubbed in enough for saturday. if not im sure i will manage to scrub it in there :)

It's ACTUALLY Illegal to quote prices without GST!
I think it's worth harrasing them again, I pay $220 fitted in ROMA for a front Pilot Power & that's abit I think.....
Just in case you don't know where Roma is, it's approx 500km west of Brisbane in the western QLD Desertalmost

I had a tyre fitted by them and they didn't charge me for fitting. $295 for a rear Mich pilot power. Still I don't use them for servicing. I prefer Sydney City MC at Kogarah. Still when you need a tyre :?

tell me about it...

Sydney City apparantly doesnt charge for fitting if you take the wheels off the bike yourself. I imagine a lot of the stores dont charge then either.

Im going to buy myself a front stand and from now on will take them off myself.

No suprise you got ripped by Actions, they are notorious for it, years ago they refused to refund a deposit on a bike that they brought out from the city store to the parra store. They brought the wrong bike out, and when i said i didnt even want to ride it they just said oh well to bad piss off. I'd spent and $1500 on gear there about 6 months before, so that sealed it for me, i only ever go back in there to kick tyres and try to distract them from people who may have wanted to buy a bike from them....wonkers :x
