Does anyone know anything about the Hyosung GTR250,s and GTR650's.
I've only heard about them in the past 6 months or so and am interested to know about their performance, reliability and resale value.
I saw one close up a few weeks ago and it looked impressive. From the information I've seen posted on the web, they are a good performer with a lot of technical advances borrowed from the Japanese manufacturers.
If you look at the GTR250 as an example, they go for $6.5K compared with $6.0K for a new GPX250. Both are twins and with the Kwaka, I at least know there's plenty of places to get spares and wrecked parts, and that there is a good resale market for them (although I hear the Kawasaki warantee is the worst in the business). With the Hyosung, there doesn't seem to be much shared knowledge on them.

I have not ridden the hysongs' myself, but have been told by a few people that the brakes could do with some improvements. I believe that they have been making parts for other manufacters for some time. I have also been told that they have had quite a lot of warantee claims made as well. I guess that is a good thing if they are being honoured (I believe they are) although not good if they are being made. I do not know if there is any commonality of these claims or what they are for. I have been told the Kwaka is a better product, but yes have heard of some having issues in the event of a claim.

The GPX is essentially unchanged since it came to be in 1988

cheap and easy to service and will go for just about forever and a day

If you were in NSW then you would consider the 650 whoflung as a long term bike throuhg l's,p's and beyond

I bet you sell the GPX a whole lot easier than the whoflung

consider buying a near new sub 10K GPX for about $4K

Yup, if it's just for your restrictions period, I'd be looking at a second-hand GPX.

Get it checked over before you buy it so you know you won't be hit with any repair bills.

Enjoy it for a couple of years and then pass it on and hopefully you shouldn't lose too much money.

The alternatives are to ride one out of the showroom and burn around $2000 immediately, or to do similar with the Hyosung and possibly have a lot of problem with resale because Korean bikes still don't have a good reputation, even it is improving.

$3-$4k should be enough.
