Wheel swap conundrum....*solved*

It looks like I'm going to the ANZAC day track day at QR.

But to fully enjoy the experience i need to transplant the wheels and slicks off dead trackie onto my road bike.

This plan meant i had to bring forward my front stand purchase plans. :x

The fun part will be getting the wheeless bike off the race stands so i can put the wheels on other bike. Then putting the trackie back onto the stands to fit road wheels so i can take my race stands with me.

Any ideas that don't involve getting another pair of race stands?

Any overhead beams you can attach some chains to?

Use a car jack on the sump it will lift the front enough to get the axel out. Just be careful as it's not as stable as a propper jack. You may have to drop the headers, but that allows the jack further forwards and more stability.

Do one end at a time.

Use one track stand to keep it stable and something else (like aforementioned jack) to prop up t'other.

If the doesnt appeal much then another method is to lay the rooted one on it's side after you loosen the wheel nuts and use the stands on the good'n.

when i got the forks done, i had the old girls front end hanging from the rafters for a week. i just used a couple of tie downs around the top triple clamp and up to the beam. a car jack works ok too
