Stoner on Pole with a 1'55.6 and Edwards 2nd with a 1'55.72. Rossi back in 6th, and Knackers is uo to 9th now. Hope Knackers has worked on set up and has a good race package. If so he can do the times and may have half a chance. But then again, maybe I am just trying to be optimistic, as we all know knackers fades from half race distance.............
Stoned boy is doing insanely well........
I hope he trounces Mini P all season!!!!! And I said it before the flag dropped. Rossi will struggle a little early in the season, and will not get going until he mounts some more pressure on himself, so as to make the season a little of a challenge for him, before he pulls his finger out and hoses them for the second half of the season!!!
He's just giving them a little false hope

That's an unbelievable effort from Casey stoner. Doesn't seem to make sense how a new rider to MotoGP on a non factory bike could beat the factory team.
I was wondering what other people's opinion would be when two riders from the same team are really close to each other in practice and qualifying. Do you think that this is a reflection on the bike? In other words, do you think this gives an indication that neither rider can get any extra performance out of the bike?

I live with fear everyday but on weekends she lets me ride.
Its hard to say with the kwacka team randys times are ok and nakers seems to ba able to stay a 10th in front of him but randy being new to the bike and getting flicked off all the time would sugest he is having a go and with a bit of time and healing a few more races should improve a fair bit.
I would also say your team technician/engineer would have a bit to do with it he is making the adjustments based on what the rider says and what he believes so if the rider says its not hooking up properly he may pull out the shokie and polish it and put it back in or make a adjustment to it or adjust traction control for less power out of the corner or make a chasis adjustment.
Ohh forgot try another tyre but it would vary from team to team on setup and they probably dont share imformation too much.

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

See thats what happens when you put your Nuts in Yappa's hands. Yappa help Casey's nuts at Morgan Park trackday before Xmas while he was fixing the scoot that ceased & tossed him onto the wilderness.
Hope he can convert it into a podium or heaven forbid a win. How ordinary must CV feel after pressuring Honda & jumping to spewie early to make sure he got a ride in motogp.
Hope the Kwikas can make some forward progress but it's going to be difficult since the fieild has some REAL DEPTH now.

Yeah I thought Rossi had more self belief and was going to wait until a little further along in the season before he ramped it up and hosed them. I think he started doubting himself!!!!Neka79 wrote:well wot a fantastic race....i wont go into details in case ne1 hasnt seen it yet...but ponti's comments, barra's comment, and a few others are right on the money..strika u were right..but u were wrong too....haha..

Great to see stoned one getting amongst it too. And to be in front of Mini P on his "Special factory Bike" is pretty cool too. I personally think the rear tyre was probably only half the equation with Casey's last 3rd race performance. Listening to the post race interview with young casey, he had to continually interrupt the interview for a coughing session. And looking at his face pre-race he was not looking well. Poor kid. 1st year moto GP, 2nd race, and he is crook. He must have been fading physically by half or 3rd race distance I reckon.
Watching the on-board shots that gave a view of Casey thru the turns, he was struggling a little with the set-up. If you watch closely on a few of the turns, you can see Casey repeatedly losing the front and wicking the back up to get it moving with it and catch the front again. I think it was from Either Rossi or Haydens bike, the pics from memory. But you could see him lose the front and then light it up to get it back. Awesome stuff!!! Casey was definately having a dip.

I just can't wait to see how fast this kid is gunna be when he gets a real handle on setting up this Honda, and maybe based on his first few races, honda may shift some focus this year and as has happened in the past, Casey may recieve some more "A" spec parts during the season to assist his results.

Even without all that, I reckon he and Pedrosa are really going to be at each other by half season, and it will be a more entertaining battle than the championship I would think! Go Casey!

Pity about knackers though. WTF is wrong with KHI??? We havn't looked like winning anything in GP since Kork Ballington and Greg Hansford

Maybe we should dig Greg back up. Surely he can't be any slower than knackers and Loui'?????

Let's petition Kawasaki and see if they have any interest in digging Greg up? If so........who want to ask his wife permisssion??????

Onya Pyka your pretty clopse to the money. Casey said that Rhonda have been awesome with their support in an interview he did pre season .... Gotta luv me boxtel for the background stories.
OJ did get a second last year in the 3rd round in the wet (behind Rossi, so thats as good as a win imho) so I think Mr Hansford's family can rest easy & not have to station security at the cemetry
.
Nakkers wont push until Randy makes him look bad & Randy ain't up to it yet.... but have faith little ones ... it's coming.

Strika- i did notice the rear lighting up several times on Case' bike, also saw him nearly highside 3 or 4 times (one where he left the seat in a big way) and i actually thought it was stamina, in that he didnt have enuf physical strength to muscle the bike round for a full 23 laps...mind u i was too pissed to see the interview, so if ur correct, and he was sick, well thats a whole lot easier to beat than lack of strength...
i hope he puts it on the podium...Hell i hope he puts it on the top step..shoulda heard the cheering coming from Greeny's lounge room satdy nite!!
go Casey!!

Sure they can get it to cut a close to fast lap on qualifiers, but it isn't hanging in there for the race, suggesting they havn't got something right in the chassis. It's eating it's tyres and not transferring it's power to the ground by the looks of it. Either the bike geometry is fcuked and they are trying to mask it with suspension, or the chassis is mint and they can't sort the suspension ??? Most prolly the chassis I would think though???

i watched the live timing on motogp.com becuase I have the poverty pack tv (but got a set top box so it quality lol) and the kwacka was down 15kph on the trap times every time that could be drive out of the corner but if you watch the guys up the front they do slide it around abit versus surgical shinya for what you can see of him.
That and the fact that randy keeps getting chucked off the bike every session he goes out in would leave me to belive that something is amiss there and you would think they would have a mighty big selection of springs and dogbones for the riders to try till they like it.
The closeness of the times between shinya and randy would make me think they use the same setup.
Will watch it tonight i hope.
I have been watching some golden oldie 2 stroke stuff where it was more rider and to a lesser extent bike with overtaking and even some of the old push start type race starts and it makes a pleasant change from the liter bikes, they used to have some huge fields back in the 80s.

Go Casey
Stoner chasing turn of speed
April 26, 2006
CASEY Stoner, increasingly rated the star rookie of MotoGP, is salivating at the thought of returning to the Turkish Grand Prix this weekend, excited by the thought of rounding the fastest corner in the world.
The Istanbul Park circuit, built at a cost of $150 million, was designed to provide the ultimate test for MotoGP and Formula One races, and turn 11, taken flat-out in fifth gear at close to 260 km/h, is ranked the fastest corner in world championship motor sport.
"On a MotoGP bike, the corner is going to be a little scary - but I'm actually looking forward to it," Stoner said.
"On a 250cc bike, the corner was flat in fifth gear. Just tip it in and hope for the best and then click up to sixth gear on the climb coming out.
"You think 'man, how I am ever going to make this corner'. But as you exit going uphill with the bike sliding, you know you have made it.
"It's just a confidence thing, just being able to tip the bike in going flat-out - and the faster you go, the more you can tuck your knee in closer to the bike - but that is hard to do."
The Honda speed merchant, 20, knows the Istanbul circuit well, having mastered the ultra-modern 5.34 km venue to win the Turkish 250cc GP last October - defeating newly crowned world champion Dani Pedrosa.
"I feel comfortable with the track and have a good feeling for how far I can push so hopefully it will be another good race for me," Stoner said.
"It's going to be interesting.

"Turn 11 at Istanbul is pretty special.
"I've tested the Honda at Phillip Island with some fast corners, but this will be my first race on a really fast track on a MotoGP bike."
Stoner stunned his rivals, including seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi, when he qualified on pole position for his second MotoGP race, in Qatar, earlier this month.
The Australian, who had flu and leg cramps, then led for nine laps before finishing fifth.
The Turkish race will be just his third MotoGP start since moving up to the premier class from 250s.
Stoner finished sixth on MotoGP debut at the season-opening Spanish round at Jerez.
"The Qatar race was terrible for me because I woke-up knowing it would be impossible to hold-off Valentino and the others, even starting from pole position," Stoner said.
"I'm pretty stoked with how the season has started although I'm never happy finishing fifth or sixth.
"But MotoGP is the toughest class in racing and, considering the guys I'm racing against, I think I've got to be happy being in the top 10."
Stoner has 21 points to stand fifth on the ladder led by Italian Ducati rider Loris Capirossi (41 points).
Defending champion Rossi, who crashed out at Jerez, bounced back for a narrow but decisive victory at Qatar but is still fourth in the standings, 14 points adrift of Capirossi.
