After a trackday and numerous encounter with the spurs :lol: my front tyre has worn on the sides. The middle part is still perfect especially since I commute.

The question is how would insurance company view this?

So in case of an accident they will not compensate due to road-unworthiness ?

Is it down to the wear markers?
Yes = unworthy
No = roadworthy, despite how minimally.

If you crash a vehicle you knew to be unroadworthy, the insurance company will not cover you. I found this out when my car failed a police spot roadworthy test and I rang my insurance company to see if my cover extended to short trips made to effect repairs (which were the conditions of my car registration after the notice had been served). The answer is no, because by simple virtue of being served with a notice, I was made aware that the car wasn't roadworthy.

Now if your tyre is bald in the middle, it's a highly visible unroadworthy item. Try proving in a legal context that you didn't know about the poor condition of your tyres, when you can clearly see their condition every time you walk around the bike.

Apart from the insurance cover issue, do you really want to risk your life getting a extra few hundred kays from some worn out tyre?

Well my original thinking is I dont lean on daily commute :lol: seems like I need a visit to the tyre shop now.

What's a good tyre nowadays in terms of wear? I've put BT19 and BT14 (now) on the front and was not too impressed. I put Dunlop GTR100 on the back and have been very happy. Very good wear.

Heard of shinko tyre and they're dirt cheap ?

bald edges, plenty of meat in the middle....

Sounds like someone needs to book in for a new tyre and then practice some burnouts on the way there.
