Sort of :D

Got a little runabout the other day, a 1991 GPX250R... certainly a different beast to the VTR but definitely giggle-worthy when it comes to cornering!

I have a fairly wide list thus far, but currently the 05 ZX10R, ZX12R, GSXR1000 and Hayabusa are the real contenders. I've ridden each and like them all, I will have to have another go on each one to aid the decision.

So what do you think is next? 8)

Well I've done about 500km on the GPX so far, and what can I say! I've left little silver lines all the way up & down Glorious and have melted the hero knobs into oblivion. I suppose that's a given with a flickable bike and low ground clearance!

Having gotten fairly close to a purchase I was looking into running costs - with insurance at ~$1700/year (daily use, 27yo, Rating 1, one claim and two speeding fines in the last 5 years) and a regular diet of tyres the bikes I want just don't make sense given the amount of riding I do.

Instead I'm looking at something nekkid such as a ZRX1200R, Z1000, CB900 Hornet, or an FZ1 as these practically halve my insurance cost and tyres last considerably longer without that extra 40hp on tap.

And Drim is right, the other option is buying an easily repairable writeoff (eg. ZX7) to use as a track-only bike, keeping the GPX250 as a commuter and occasional weekend toy. That makes more sense from a personal safety/license/daily cost point of view but it's certainly not a cheap option when I'd only be attending say one track day a month.

Still a lot of umming and aahing so I'm enjoying the cheap life for the time being - $220 for a set of tyres, w00t!
