re: 2004 GPX 775R seen in nasho car park......
Phil..looks really good
like the paint job....
understated ..but fits the bike!
Is Tim happy with it?
do we get a ride report..?
how does it go and handle?
extra piccies..will pm you
and slightly OT
did an service on mine yesterday
and put the Megacycle can onto the F1 headers
(ala Tims set up)...it sounds mean
and is very noisy.... the missus INSISTED that i put the baffle
back into the Megacycle can
coz I was upsetting the neighbourhood dogs and
setting off burgler alarms....
and again slightly OT
I got a Bridgie BT45 ..that went on the back to match the front..
as per your recommendation
I got it in the week and went out with the Vic members
today..to scrub it in....
the bike is very stable
and even allowing for the slippery nature of a new rear
AND a pillion (the missus) and a Ventura bag (which was fulla stuff!)
the bike hangs in there ...very nicely
happy with the tyre setup..thanks to u 2
is tim happy too?
cheers

re: 2004 GPX 775R seen in nasho car park......
ok ty here is another pic, seriously i have that many i really didnt know which ones to post.
it seems to pull pretty well comming out of corners, especially when its over 6k.
tims rather distressed with the tyres tho, the front is nearly down the the wear mark indicators after 2.5K.
the handling is pretty good although i did see it shake its head quite violently at one point while he was on the gas over some seriously bumpy tarmac in nasho.

a couple of things you should check out tho
the wheels frame and rear mudguard are all the same colour, hard to see in these small photos tho.
the grey seat really sets it off.
the screen is by eagle, a huge improvement on the old one.
how much did it all cost
, well lets just say alot more than he originally expected.

yep the missing hand rail is due to the rack, it will be going on but tim wants to rub it back and paint it before he does.
guess he'll be carrying a back pack until then.
funny you mention "understated" ian, that was the exact word tim used to convet what he was after.
and to quote one guy this morning "fark - you've kept that in good nic".

those "cruiser tyres" are in fact bt45 bridgestones.
they are the sportiest tyres you can get for the gpx, which btw doesnt have radials only crossply's
the front has been destroyed in 2.5K, like to see a cruiser do that

And there's *nothing* wrong with BT-45's, they keep my ZZR-250 from
dragging it's arse on the tarmac !

dont think so, from memory the front is a 100/90/16 and the rear is a 140/80/18. strange sizes compared to what bikes run now, then again the designof the bike is basically 18 years old.
ian would best to comment on that question or tim but he cant get "online" at the moment.
then again that might change now that he has some spare time.

front end grip???
seem to remember some previous piccies (at EC?)
where Tim..really hangs off the front?

Phil..not bad.. (from memory).
fronts are 110/90 x 16
from the days
when 16" fronts were the hottest thing in sportsbikes
and rear..
140/70 x 18..again
the hot stuff back in 1987!!!!
and the problem is....
you can't go much larger in WIDTH at the rear
due to the swingarm design
which is very strong..but Straight !
(to compare..look at the new zx9..the front its curved)
but why complain...
the latest model sportsbike...rarely get more than 7000
(ok...maybe 10,000) outta a set of tyres
so
Tim ..gives the Gpx a hard time
and
the front tyre frets at 2500....big deal!
me???
take it easy....
and get more than 15000 from a set
(weep ..fellow SPORTSBIKEriders)
oh
and btw
there is nothing wrong with the basic bikedesign....
