Billy,
The crash of 05 was not due to a shortage of funds, it was other issues.
I have always believed in keeping things open and honest with how we fund this place. To date the funding has been covered by the t-shirts sales of which we have run a couple of batches in the last 12 to 18 months. That has raised about $200 each time and has covered the hosting costs, and still is covering costs.
We will soon also need to pay for domain re-registration, but that isn't a big outlay.
My concern is we can't keep selling t-shirts every year as ppl will have a cupboard full and there will be no demand. I have had a few discussions with Dan about this and I have not wanted to ask for donations as I would prefer ppl to get something additional to the use of the site in return for any $. Hence the many other items we sell...
A number of ppl have already made contributions and numerous offers have also been made.
I will say, if ppl do feel strongly about wanting to chip in we certainly can set up a paypal account or similar for such things..
Just rest assured, currently we are financial.
Our goal has tried to be that no one should be out of pocket for anything more than there time spent in running this place.. So far we have been somewhat successful..

Dave
it can run forever ...for a few $ from the members (all 700+)
mate , I am happy (and have done so at the bbqs/rides)
to drop Daniel or Jase or you a few few gold coins or a blue note
..on a voluntary basis, of course
as I said on Dan's post about the site, if you need some $
I am sure the vocal 50-100 of us who
lob posts here constantly would contribute $2-$5-$10 a year so
we could be hosted..rather nicely and not fret
and not cause Dan/you/dave#3/Jase headaches
I for one will lob a fiver/tenner into yours
and
i am sure there will be a few others
whaddayareckon?
cheers

A few ppl have given money and theres been donations on rides and bbq's but its not something I want to make the norm. I don't want anyone to feel obligated to pay if they don't want to.
In addition to any fund raising activities we do, we will have a paypal account that ppl can drop $ into if they would like...
Lets not blow this out of proportion either it doesn't cost a huge amount of $ to run but we just want to make sure we are coverd for the future and the growth...

Dave
righto
..a tee or a cap or a gold coin or two donation
sounds the go
and yeah, i reckon the paypal account is good too
ppl can lob $ to pay for tees etc there also
(on their credit cards

)
all we want..is to keep the show on the road
with the least hassle to you, Dan Dave#3 Jase etc
rebuilding pHp databases a few times a year is a PITA ..i reckon
let alone a waste of time, when you could be out riding
lets see what others think
cheers

Set up a direct deposit account and you'll find a few shiny pennies in there from me

If the idea goes extraordinarily well, maybe we could have a club funded piss up every now and then

-J.
EDIT: I'd be happier to just wire munny into an account through dirct deposit rather than use paypal, since I am old and set in my ways and don't want to learn all this new-fangled internet stuff. And doesn't paypal cost you guys money to set up? -J.

hi guys,
well if people would like to make a donation, I will put the details here for d/d and paypal donations. I would rather keep it completly anonymous, and ask that people don't go digging deep, as I am under the impression we're only talking a few bucks.
Direct Deposit for those that like to use netbanking.
Melbhosting
Bendigo Bank
BSB: 633-000
A/C #:126345339
Paypal:
In addition, anyone who does donate can have an @ksrc-au.com email address... Whether it be forwarded to their ISP account or an actual mail account on the server. Mailbox size will be set up as 20MB, and webmail use is included.

There is also plenty of space around the screen for a sponsor that pays the bills and gives member discounts.
Win win for all concerned.
Just a thought. .... why does my head hurt now?

My 2c worth ? - I would hate to see sponsor's advertising anywhere on the screens - It would look like NotRider, and thats just not pretty....
I think the site is doing really well not to have any ad's placed on the forum pages, apart from the Sponsor's threads - this should be enough.

i agree..and with all the members we have, id be happy to pay a $5 or so membership to keep the place open...dunno what it costs to keep a site like this up and running??..but im sure with over 1000 members, if we pass a hat around we could cover it...

and his stupid mate above

No sponsors banners and shit like that, it would indeed look like Notrider and that doesn't appeal to me, what's the funding status Dave? If the merchandising arm doesn't cover it then there would be no probs getting dinations I reckon.
If we have enough South Australians and Collingwood supporters we could setup a trakkie dax group buy to raise some more funds
