So now I'm on the hunt for a new bike, part of my field of search is , of course, the showrooms. After some quick visits of my local dealers I was shocked to see just how scaled back they have become.
A couple of them are no longer trading, the rest (with the exception of one) have bugger all on the floor, with next to no sports bikes at all, which is a real bitch coz that's what I want.
Has there been a trend in decreasing sales for a while or is it to do with Covid? The latter doesn't make sense as that has been a very recent thing, they wouldn't have lost 60-80% of floor stock in that time (this includes accessories, not just bikes).
Any clues?

Re: Dealer Slump?
My local kawi dealer tells me that bikes have been flying out the door, lots of buyers, especially used bikes.

Re: Dealer Slump?
stats are showing bike sales are up 24%.
Motorcycle licence training is booked out for months, and has been flat out since covid hit.
So big demand on bikes and gear.
cheers

bike sales are through the roof. + there has been huge delays on getting new bikes into the country.
don't expect any sharp prices either.
supply v demand.

Re: Dealer Slump?
there was an interesting story on facebook today, about this exact issue. Apaprently as a result of covid and the issues with public transport - heaps of punters have been lining up to buy new or secondhand bikes - the lack of stock on some dealers floors is probably directly as a result of this.

Re: Dealer Slump?
It only took 2 weeks to sell my ZRX, locally, at the price I wanted. I was surprised.
Initially I had to deal with someone who "works" for New Zealand Oil and Gas, and is only home once a month, but who liked the price very much (unseen) and had a courier ready to ship it to Queensland, which according to him, was overseas. He wanted my details in a hurry so he could pay me.
