Wheel compatibility

Post by Fifer »

Hoping to channel the gods of ZXR knowledge here - what is the front and rear rim compatibility from early ZXR750 H1 through ZXR J-L to ZX7? they look the same, are they? And early ZX9 ?

Don't know about H, think they're different. J-K-L-M are identical, as are front wheels from N-P and 9B.

The only thing that I have to ad here is, the later P model ZX7 rear wheel is 6" rather than 5.5" on the earlier. I'm pretty sure the H models are different, maybe 20 mm axle?

Did you end up finding any Marvics? From memory your wheels aren't stock anyway are they?

H models are definitely different to everything else and the H1 is different to the H2, due to the different swingarms. They are 20mm axles too.

Haven't found any Marvics, but picked up a ZX7 and ZXR cheap, plus going to the UK Dec/Jan so with favourable fx rate, I've been looking at spare rims and other bits and bobs to bring back. For my race bike we ended up improvising a set of wet rims, front YZF750 rim with 10mm spacer blocks and brembo 320 discs, rear is a ZXR rim with captive spacers and machined disc.

Thanks Nelso for the clarification, the H rims do look pretty similar but a trap for young players it seems!
