Zxr 750 radiator options.UPDATED - PLEASE HELP ME.. AGAIN

Post by robz »

Hi all.
My j1 has had a stone through the rad.
Are there any different rads that I can use?
Namely smaller ones. I know you can get r1 expansion bottles to replace the under seat unit? Anyone remember what year?
But are there any small radiators?
Appreciate any help!
Cheers

Just wondering why you'd want a smaller radiator? Any J,K,L or M radiator would bolt straight in. Not 100% sure about the later P model but I think it will too

Sorry didn't explain that. My rad seems to touch the headers slightly.
Makes a slightly annoying noise. Haha.

ZX9 B rad also bolts up, but you've got to get creative with the thermostat housing, and get rid of the lower mounting bracket (which is a good idea to do, anyway).

If your pipe is interfering with the rad, a smaller rad isn't the solution. Sounds like a problem with the rad mounts to me.

Cheers for that.
I went for a same replacement. I will be having a good look at the mount. Having a Bent bar didn't pass my thoughts :D
Will let you know my progress
Thanks a lot!

Yes, as Greenman say, most likely a bent bracket or something there. Also possible that a previous owner has put a set of headers on that are a slightly different radius?

Are any of the later model ZXR radiators the same as the H2? The H1 is flat and the H2 is a bit larger and curved, but they both have a separate cap/thermostat housing to the radiator itself. Are any of the later models the same as the H2, or did they have a cap on the radiator itself?

Don't know about the H2 aspect, but JKLM and 9B rads all had the cap on the radiator itself.

Welli fucked up. Haha
Seems I bought a h2 rad? Looks the same but no cap and thermostat pipe is in different place.
Should have looked more closely. Having to send that back and try again. Bugger

Where are you at? I have a ZX6 radiator that I would swap for that H2 radiator.

The inlet for the thermostat is in a different place on the 9B rad - I wasn't running a thermo, so it wasn't an issue for me, so I can't tell you the fix.

Cheers,

I see. Not running a thermostat. Brave lol.
Well what are the odds of this... one turned up only 10mins away from me so I've bought it and hopefully this problem will be sorted. Will keep the broken one in case I can have it repaired.
