Winter Gloves???

Post by Mitch »

Hi All

Winter has finally hit SE QLD this week and I have decided that as I am getting old (soft?) that I need a set of winter gloves to see me thru June and July til the heat returns.

Any one got any suggestions on what works and what doesn't? I will be riding in the early morning when temps can get down to 0 deg, but more likely low single digits.

Winter gloves are always horrible because they have so much less feel. My winter gloves are simple thicker ones from Rjays and they do the job for how often I use them. If it' really cold I use a set of inners as well like from cricket. Make sure they come up far enough to cover the cuff on your jacket as the cold breeze up your sleeve is just as bad as crap gloves. I've seen those gauntlet style ones that Triumph and BMW do as well but they seem quite expensive for how often you'll use them. Handy back up too when the other ones get wet in summer too.

I have been using a pair of the Dri-Rider inner a for a while now but I am finding that my hands still freeze.

Only going to be using them for commuting so a little bit loss in feel shouldn't be too warm if I have toasty warm hands.

I had good luck with my joe rocket nitrogen gloves. Not sure if you can still get them though as they are quite old now.

I have ordered a pair of these:
http://www.fc-moto.de/epages/fcm.sf/en_ ... rrency=AUD.
I often travel down the Ipswich Motorway @ 2.30am so it gets a bit cool(5 degrees this morning :) ).
I'll let you know how they go when they arrive. :)

Heated grips FTW! Since getting heated grips, I only ever use my winter gloves when it rains.

I have heated grips and my usual gloves are fine unless its wet or seriously cold. Windchill and wet is the killer.

Got a pair of Alpinestars Jet Road Goretex Gloves cheap

(not from these guys) and they do the job

andy strapz over gloves are supposed to be good

Yep Heated Grips are the ducks guts. Having said that I'm old and soft so I double up with my Dainese winter gloves, very toasty combination.

The winter gloves I do use when it rains, are BMW gloves and are warm and completely dry, even when it buckets down for hours. They are the only winter gloves that work well, that my fat hands fit into.

For $139 the Oxford heated grips are sensational. Piece of piss to install as well. The MT09 is getting a pair this weekend. After having them on the Rex I find they're the best thing to make you ride more in winter 8)
