upgrade to newer 9

if you are in melb today you would know its pretty bloody miserable so i thought, time for a day in the shed and change the oil in the 9.

headed into elizabeth st and bought the oil and filter and went for a bit of a look around. as you do.

so i see this 2002 9r, the purple/bluey colour 8600 kms, totally original, 2 x new tyres rego till jan '06 first reg 2003.

the price $9990. this seems really cheap to me??? there was a 98 in the same shop for $8990.

i had a good look at it looks straight. couldnt find any signs of a drop apart from a couple of scratches on one of the mirrors and i guess it coulda just clipped something. it has a few scuffs on the tank from a tank bag or something but looks like they should polish out.

so the plan is to take my 1995 9 in during the week when its fine. go for a test run and try to do the deal.

what would be a reasonable changeover?? my 9 has 24000 kms and is in reasonable nick for its age?

i guess they would rather have a 2002 model on the floor before a 1995?? anything i should know or particularly look for on the 2002 model??

so i better head out and go and clean the old girl up. i dont think i'll bother changing the oil. i can do that next week if theres not a newer one in the shed.

Greg
If its PeterStevens they may not want to trade in your older bike.
They didn't want to for me when I tried to trade my '93 zxr750 on a new zx6r in 2001
But you never know.

Greg you might haveto gothe private sale route on your bike but it looked ok to me (your bike) have fun haggling though all the same.

You haveto love dealing with dealers but i supose thats the buisness they are in, i remember when i was looking at trading my 250 and they left the headlights on for 10 minutes before starting it up and told me the battery was stuffed amongst other things.

yeah...thats the one. i am just wondering why it is cheap?? i guess it all depends on the changeover tho. the salesman did say there would be no drama in trading mine so lets hope so.

I got offered about 5500 trade-in before haggling... good condition 95 model with 40k kms.

redbook price is pretty close to that:

Wow thats so cheap, I have been looking for 00/01 nine for about 3 months and thats certainly cheap, I have not seen one for sale privately at the price. I'm looking to pay that for a 00 or 01. You lucky lucky bastard.
