they run like shit without the ram-air. I tried running the MFP12 at a KSRC Xmas track day a few years ago without the ram-air intake. It was fine around the back of the circuit where the speeds are relatively slow - but as soon as you got on the gas out of T12 - it basically just stopped revving at 7 or 8k and would not pull any higher revs at all. Felt as slow as buggery....
But the photos still look OK
