ZX14R KTRC

Post by Tekno »

I've recently picked up a 2012 ZX14R and noticed that the KTRC and power modes can be changed on the fly - I was under the impression that the bike needed to be stopped with 0% throttle for these modes to be changed... its this behaviour normal for or has my ECU been modded? Any helpful advice would be great!

does it revert back to TRC setting 1 on restart.
or can it be left in the off setting all the time once switched off and restarted.
If it holds the off setting the ecu may have had a flash at some stage.
which is not a bad thing.

Thanks 1400R - the KTRC does not revert back to setting 1 on restart so tuned it is.
I haven't ridden any other ZX14Rs so I cant compare - but its a demon compared to my old 2011 ZX10R

The flashing of the ECU is a good thing.
They have a lot of factory safety maps in the ECU which can take about 50hp away at any given time.
These should have been disabled during the flash.
Also your top speed limiter should have been removed. And your Retain Last TC setting is already active.
This is easy enough to find out with a dyno run.
On stock gearing it will run around 318kmh in 6th just before redline.
Some of the available flash tunes clean up the low throttle settings and add a bit of timing.
The Bikes are a weapon factory so you'll be enjoying it for quite some time with a few ecu mods.
The best Hyper Bike going.. And my Favourite Kwaka...
