Just wondering if anyone knows what these belong to? They are currently fitted to a 78 z 1000 with spoke wheels.

hard to tell from the pics and the owner doesn't know much about this bike, all mods carried out by previous owner.
maybe GPZ500 fronts ?

yeh they look like GPz500 front calipers to me. 87-88 model or later, these are the 2-piston calipers that a lot of pommie punters use on their old Zeds to upgrade the brakes. They are OK as a cheap upgrade - but still need braided lines and good HH pads to improve the fell - I would like to see a close-up of how they have modified the backing plate to suit the Z-style forks !

				Thanks all for your help

My german is a little rusty, beer and fraulein is my limit

Looks about right though. Is hard to see the backing plate and the bike is in Brisbane so too far to look at in person.
The 87 - 93 GPZ with single disc had a similar looking caliper and those GPX calipers look the same but cant match part nos.
Not too worry, I am pretty close to giving up on this project as my patience is running thin, although I knew that if this hadn't been done before now it wasn't going to be a walk in the park. I think I could get it to work with the Nissins I have been playing with but tolerances are just a little tight. Anyhoo I am thinking of going for a set of AP Lockheeds
