Insurance

Post by Fossi »

Hi guys, I'd like some feedback on who the best insurance company. I'm with Swan and being charged approx $650 yearly for full comp. Bike is a ZX6R 2010. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I've found aami to be best for me. But my bike doesn't even come up on their online quote anymore.

I think Insure My Ride seems to be the cheapest but you can't use the bike for work if you do go with them. (Stopped me using them)

Just went and did some quotes online. Insure my ride is $1400 more a year than what I pay with Qbe...

They also don't seem to have a phone number!

Swann looks to be about on par with what I pay now! A couple of years they wouldn't insure me! I had car insurance with swann in the past and they were really good when I made a claim.

The "best" insurance company is a very subjective judgement as everyone's circumstances are different. For me I'm over 50 with two modified vehicles insured with Shannons for "Occasional" use ie not everyday rides/drives. I am also listed as the only rider/driver (and that is a strict requirement) and that keeps my premiums down a bit.

For me, I've always found them to be good to deal with and competitively priced. From others who have lodged claims with them also I know they have been pretty responsive and easy to deal with through the process.

They do offer a pay by month with the same premium as your full year up front premium and I don't think anyone else does that. I'm sure they average it out and build something into the price though. What I do like about them is that they typically know what you're on about when you talk to them about modifications to either bikes or cars. I currently have the ZRX with them, with all the mod's listed eg Ohlins Suspension etc and I also have the 383 SS with them with all of the mods listed and my premiums are reasonable.

However, a guy here at work just bought a new KTM Super Duke. He's over 50 also but Shannons were twice the price of Insuremyride. He went with Shannons though because he thought the policy was better.

Good luck with it.

I've tried Swan but like Wattie my bike isn't on their online quote system as it's too old!
I insure through NRMA currently but haven't had to put it to the test so can't comment about claim issues, etc!

QBE for me and the 03 Z1000 premium reasonable and their treatment of me when the Rex was totalled was exceptional :D :D :D :kuda: also like Glen a mature person over fifty hence the reasonableness of the premium as well I guess but I don't have any usage restrictions on the policy and it is for agreed value

i went with youi, who beat my nrma quote (which was cheaper than a bunch of other quotes) by about $100, which i basically told them to do. i also insured 2 vehicles with them at the same time.

a 27 yr old with a WRX and ducati hypermotard came to about $1550 a year. they're both listed as occasional use, for market value, and im the only listed driver/rider. no other rider will be covered for the bike but any driver over 30 is covered for the scooby.

i haven't had to make a claim through them yet.

I have just 3rd party comp on mine. Youi came out the cheapest, (against about another 9 companies) however i ended up going with Insuremyride as they also covered my gear (which is close to the value of the bike) from memory they were the only guys that did this.

Think I'm with AAMI atm. been with qbe and gio and others. just gotta do the leg work to find the best. At one stage I had 2 cars a bike and a house with em, so they tend to treat me nice these days.

Insure My Ride. I found them the cheapest by a long way. $79 a quarter for full comprehensive insurance including $1000 worth of riding gear.

Insure My Ride are cheap, but shit to deal with if you have an accident. We are with Shannon's because they cover the race bikes and trailer etc from theft and to and from the track.
