Don't ask - I said to a friend that I'd check:
Do you guys have those bayonet gas fittings for using a gas heater there in Tassie houses?
No.
Rare.
Only in new houses.
Common.
Heh.
Totally random question - Tasmania
Re: Totally random question - Tasmania
Town gas is only a recent addition. A lot of people can't afford to have it connected, even though it goes past their house. Many others who want it can't have it because it is too far away. So not common - yet. Stuff here is mostly electric.

Re: Totally random question - Tasmania
you use them wherever unflued gas heaters are allowed .... like in WA Tas and VicBrettZZR wrote:Don't ask - I said to a friend that I'd check:

with the introduction of reasonably cheap gas central heating (for existing houses) and in-slab electric heating for new houses
as well as in-slab hydronic hearing, the use of unflued gas heaters anywhere in Australia has dropped dramatically to virtually nil these days
you can still get them from KEEFER Brothers in Melbourne -
