Is it a good idea to downgrade from zx6r to ninja 300?

Post by javaman »

I sat on one @ brighton kawasaki today. I really like the build and lightness.

I haven't ridden the 600 much and every time I ride it it feels like a bike which always want to go fast and can only really be enjoyed at 140+ kph :(

I am wondering if riding a slower bike - fast is more pleasurable than having to ride a 600 - slow. Too much trying for self control.

But will I regret it ?

Can't say I'd do it personally, I'd be more inclined to step off the sportsbike and onto something more comfortable and less eager like a mid sized naked?
But to each their own.
Take a test ride of the 300 down some familiar roads and see how it feels?

I loved riding my 250 for years in all sorts of conditions, everytime I get out on my ZX6 at the racetrack my immediate thought is "fuck riding this thing on the road!".

That being said I do like having the extra power of my Ninja 650 (compared to the 250) so you will feel a bit of a kick in the balls stepping down, it just depends how heavy handed you are on the right wrist..

Rode my wife's 250 last weekend and its good fun. All about corner speed and don't roll off. Didn't try it on anything steep and twisty though.

I love my zx6 as a tracky! The roady was good. They like to rev and for the road was ok but much prefer my Gen 1 Zeddy for the easy torque and fun factor! For me I wouldnt go back to a 300 but a motard or something else fun would be my pick!

Been watching youtube videos... great bike it seems.

I guess the only way to tell is to ride one. There will be demo unit available next Thursday.

Will try to see how much I can get for my zx6r. Would be sad to let it go considering the history but I've outgrown the 'need for speed'

I have ridden a few of them. They are a great bike and a large improvement on the 250. I'd be happy with one
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

I read some reviews and lots of positive opinions from beginners and experienced riders alike.

If you're selling and buying 2nd hand I'd say you've got nothing to loose why not give it a try :)
