This might be a stupid question but

I've just bought a pair of K&N filters for the 12
I got these way cheaper than standard one's , I've just put them in and they will not fit the way they are suppost to.
I had to put them in backwards to what they reccomend. The filter has a front side but will not fit , Turned around 180 degs.they fit fine.
Has anyone else had a similar problem with these filters and will it affect air flow at all ?

I cant say for sure mate, but id suspect with something like airflow, that if its affected it will be obviously noticeable.
By the way, I’m selfishly hoping it is, those bikes are just too f-ing fast haha.

I have tried k&N and they never fitted well, BMC do and probably why they are more exy, it helps to put a (sparse) smear of rubber grease and not anything else to help slide them in and seal properly.
thats what i do anyway, however after owning a few 12Rs I stick with the stock filters as there really isnt that much performance gain unless you ride at redline all day and I would have to ride it for 80k kms to make them worth the money.

Got them in the right way at last with some help from the 12 fourm.
You need to shave the front edge of the filter slightly with a knife , Use the grease all aroung the filter rubber and it slide's straight in.
The bottom of the frame has an angled bottom and that's why the filters won't fit properly , when I turned them around it fitted because the other side hes a resest bit,
Once you take the square edge off the bottom it fits easy
