Suspension Setup

Hi,
I am average height and weight. Is it worth getting my suspension adjusted or would it be pretty close to my size already?
Do they stiffen the rear to allow for a pillion?
Will it make enough difference to justify the cost?
Thanks

When you say adjusted, do you mean preload, rebound and compression adjusters or do you mean removing and revalving, fluids etc.?
and what do you do with it.?
Definately yes, if its the first one and depending on use, possibly the 2nd..
Theres plenty of setup info on the net to get adjusters and preload close, just need a mate and a screwdriver (and a hammer....

)

You should adjust like Dave said. The standard settings are typically for an average rider.........in Japan ie about 60kgs.
When I bought my 05 zx10 it felt like a pig on my first ride and then after twiddling with the suspension it was a totally different bike
Good luck

correct.. the manual for my ZX12R says the factory setting is for a 59kg rider.
once fettled to suit my 85kg frame, the 12R is a ripper

Well worth the expense of having someone who knows what they're doing set up your bike!
I had my old ZZR worked over by Suspensions 'R' Us and it has transformed the bike, I wonder why I didn't have it done earlier.
Yeah, I know it's only a ZZR, but it now being set up with new suspension internals and set up for my weight and riding preferences has made it handle and stop tonnes better than it was.
It will be one of the first things I look at with each new bike now.

Correct suspension set up makes a huge difference.

Only cost me about $40 to have my suspension set up by a professional. The difference is huge, much friendlier in the hills now!

Thanks Mad Kaw. I meant more the first. The suspension is still stock. I hadn't considered that average weight and height here is far from that in Japan where they do their Rand D. Thanks for the comments will get it done on the next service I think. Love the bike as it is so can't wait to get it adjusted.

If looking at firmer fork springs is it worth sticking with a dual rate spring? I sorta figure its redundant if your looking for performance.
