read this on the ABC news, he was flagged down by ANOTHER MOTORCYCLIST!!
and it was he who pushed him down the embankment when his mates in the car arrived with the acid.

I'll take a stab in the dark and say that there's a tad more to this than just old mate being randomly ambushed .Sounds a lot like some of the "random" shootings in NSW

At the same time, Random attacks do happen. Bit scary if it was random and not targeted.
