Well i just finished up doing the major 36,000km service on my ZX6. Including valve adjustment, carb synch, change the plugs, clean air filter, change oil and filter.

Bike runs great, valves sound happy and a rather big flat spot up top is gone, but still alittle choppy down low that would be something to do with the carbs.

Saved myself probably a weeks pay :D

And enjoyed the wonderful warm feeling of satisfaction having done it yourself :!: :D
Fancy doing another Vash?........................
Mine's due it's second service soon, but it won't be going back to Sydney City, they could'nt even put the bellypan back on correctly after stinging me $230 for changing the oil and lubing the chain and then they would'nt cop the cost of the bolts which fell out on the way home.It makes me mad

I think Vash may have used this superb how-to he posted a few weeks back

Its very time consuming, the bike was in bits for 2 weeks as i ordered the shims i needed, and broke a cam cover bolt, oops!
Putting it back together was the pain, mounting the radiator and the hoses, ect.

If i spent every day after work doing it though, i could of done it in a few days, I was in no rush though, i haven't got my full license yet :)

Not sure i would be comfortable doing it on someone elses pride and joy just yet. I'd have to do it a few more times on my own, as this was my first time. Its pretty easy to do, i could give you some pointers as you follow that guide, if you want to try it.

Agree with the sydney city statement, they are terrible. scratched my swingarm when they changed tyres, claimed they cleaned out the carbs but the bike ran worse..

That would make me mad too. Just keep spreading the word, they'll end up paying for those bolts many, many times over.
