Fork bush/seal installation tool?

Post by Jason »

I'm at the stage where I need a 43mm bush/seal installation tool to continue the reassembly of the forks from my 1996 ZX7R project bike.... short of buying one from oversea's & paying more than the tool cost in postage... does anyone here know of a better local alternative?

I've heard of people using a PVC plumbing pipe suitably modified to do a one-off job, but I don't think that sounds viable enough to even attempt??

PVC pipe. I have one with a sleeeve joiner. Use the pipe for the bushes, then stick the sleeve on it and use that for the seals.

I've done this a few times and can confirm it works and works well. Just make sure you remove any sharp edges and burrs so you don't damage the new seal.
