G'day there. I ride a zx12 and thinking about removing the C.C I'm presuming if I do then when the time comes to sell it, the bike would not meet the emission requirments. How difficult would it be to fit another one if at all possible. They look like they are welded into the pipe during manufacture. Can anyone help. Cheers Steve.

this was done to 2 of the 3x 12R's i have owned and wont do it to the current one, removing the cat gives 0.5 of one horspower (basically 5 fiths of F'all) and not worth it IMO, you either have to cut it off the link pipe end or drill and smash it out and you would need to get a new link pipe to replace it but I have never heard of anyone being hassled for emissions by doing this. It will sound very much the same maybe if you listen very closely you might hear a change in note but it isnt louder.

Not all muffler flange bolts come undone easily and some break, I think you would be better off with a full Akrapovic if you really feel the need to modify but again it isnt a big gain for your dollar considering you would need a Power comander to tune in the Akra, it then becomes a fair bit of coin to throw around for the HP gain.

the only advantage I found was the muffler didnt get as hot and no more burn stains.

Thanks Jonno, you've just made the desision for me. Sounds like too much hassle for min. gain. Appreciate it. Cheers Steve.
