Hi guys and gals,
Probably going to sound crazy but....
Just wondering if anyone has ever attempted to either clear coat or paint a carbon muffler, did it work ?? or was
it a epic fail?
Keen to try it on my ZX7r which has a carbon yoshi on it, want to paint it gloss black... I reckon it will work personally but if someone has worked
it out already would like to hear how it went.
The obvious drama's I can think of are
finish ( may need to chop it and paint 2 or 3 times to get it flat )
adhesion ( painted many things before but never a old carbon muffler )
heat ( doesn't seem to get too hot, painted rocker covers and other engine parts before never with any issues )
Thoughts??
Has anyone ever cleared and carbon muffler?

I re painted my carbon muffler I used hi temp gloss black coat, sanded the carbon with wet and dry, turned out really nice, I tried to clear coat it but the yellowish colour from sun damage didn't go after the sand, so I went black,
I love all bikes, but the naked ones get me going

Re: Has anyone ever cleared and carbon muffler?
I previously did a carbon muffler direct gloss black which turned out nicely, just recently purchased this carbon Akrapovic
muffler and re finished it... was a nightmare ! Not sure id recommend this to anyone unless they are prepared to really
spend a lot of time fixing up fry ups etc. All in all turned out really nicely but I did have several attempts at it.
The first muffler I did in direct gloss black was a walk in the park in comparison. If any one does want to attempt this
at any time happy to give any advise that you may find helpful.

Here is the Yoshi I changed from carbon to Gloss black.
I did also shorten it a few inches, sounded really nice and I liked the look.

Hey Jimmy, So how did you go about clearing the Akrapovic muffler ?
I looks real deep and glossy in the pics.
