Ninja 250r workshop manual

Post by gregmacc »

Hi all,
New member here ... My son has recently purchased his first bike, a 2009 Ninja 250R. We want to do a full service (20,000 km) including all fluids flushed and replaced and a valve clearance check and adjust. Can anyone recommend a good workshop manual? Would be quite happy to buy hard copy or reputable PDF download ... Also happy with free PDF if available/no strings attached ;)
Cheers
Greg

Hi mate and welcome to KSRC :kuda:

Congrats to your son on the purchase of a great motorbike! Most of the servicing is fairly straightforward, though the valve clearances are a bit of a nightmare. Unlike the GPX (previous model), they aren't adjustable and you must remove the shims, measure with a micrometer and order each individual replacement shim from Kawasaki, leaving the bike out of action for up to a week (in Adelaide I believe the parts come over from Melbourne). Even accessing the valves is pretty tough!

I suggest looking on YouTube for a few guides on how to do it as there are some nifty tricks to make it easier, such as removing the forward engine bolt to rotate and lower the engine, making clearance easier.
