What ideas have you had over the years good or bad for a Business. ?

On a more serious note.
I'm just sick of being paid just enough to survive but not enough to be comfortable in life.
I just think there is more for us out there than making someone else rich.
I don't mind working hard but it would be great to work hard for yourself and reep the benefits of that going into your own pocket and not someone else's.

Gazza it has to be something you like doing....... running a business is not easy & not necessary profitable either mate after 18 years I am still struggling, lucky I like what I am doing
or I would have chucked it in years ago. If I had the chance to do it all again I’d be working for the man that’s for sure, 18 hour days some weeks 7 days, lucky to see the kids during the week
from coming home late & all this just to hope to be able to see profit at the end of the month & in the current climate a big salary is out of the question.

Talk to your boss / management, get a plan of action going tell them what you want to achieve & ask them to work out how you all can make it happen, sounds like you have nothing to loose
& have a chat to Disco about getting management to take notice....... worked for him!

I was about to post something similar to Rob above. He hit the nail on the head. I'm in the same boat- 8 years in business (motorcycle driving school) that I love but every year is a struggle with seemingly more incompetent competition doing better (one of my competitors was shut down by Queensland Transport for a while for doing dodgy shit) - I think part of the secret is in your skills at being a businessman and or advertising person. That is where I am lacking but I am content to do OK financially and enjoy what I do. In my business to some degree the less conscientious you are the better you may do financially. A lot of clients are looking for a quick easy way out irregardless of the quality of the end result.

Oh and if you can avoid dealing with government departments in whatever you do the better you will be off. Avoid at all costs. Indirectly I deal with heaps of them and they are a BIG pain in the arse. Try ASIC for a start to register your business name. F ME! Ask Gos too. He loves 'em!
