When i come back to the rubber i imagine i will have to ride with glasses, so just a few questions
How many people ride with glasses? Do you have issues other than them fogging up?
Does anyone have issues with contacts?
Riding Dirt will be a issue as i dont like riding with goggles - sunnies yeah, but not goggles.. not sure what i will do.. not a fan of contacts (only tried them once and annoyed the crap out of me)
Any info or tips would be great

Leanne has two pairs of glasses. One are stylish and the other are minimalist in size to fit into helmets and goggles. Her dirt goggles are made to go over glasses so she has no issues what-so-ever.
Why don't you ride with goggles? They offer far more protection that sunnies. Most glasses will shatter if they are hit by a stone that's been flicked up.

Get a pair of glasses with titanium or similiar arms ... they flex easily when you put them on inside your helmet so are easy to put on, Shark make helmets that are specifically made for people who wear glasses, for off road try an Adventure helmet ..... a peaked helmet that has a visor

Thanks guys
@Nelso I have been riding with either clear or tinted safety glasses - The pair of goggles I have are borrowed and dont fit me properly - they pinch my nose and i cant breathe properly - Ill be getting a new helmet when i get a new bike so will certainly look into goggles to go over glasses
@ducati_paul ill look at shark helmets again (didnt know they did dirt/adventure helments

) the road bike helmets dont fit my head quite right.
I tried putting my helmet on yesterday. Swelling is still a bit too much and the strap crosses and agitates the scar.. more waiting

For me contacts are out of the question. They are very sensitive to dirt and I've turned my head and had them blow off center in my eye. I hate the fuckers. I have a pair of tinted perscription safety glasses that are the ideal thing for me. They have glasses that change their tint according to how light it is, (darker when bright, etc.). When I become more financially able, I'm going to try a pair. The problem might be the speed at which they change tint as I understand it's pretty slow. We have a product called anti fog that I put on them, (the lenses) before I ride and I have not had a problem with fogging. Titanium frames are a little more expensive but ideal, (for me) as they, (as earlier stated) are more flexible but also much more durable. Oh and stay away from bi-focals, (for riding). The only issue I have with glasses is you can leave them laying somewhere or they can break so I always carry a spare set in my storage. I put them in an old sock inside a zip-lock storage bag. Cheers!!!

I don't think they do make adventure helmets, they were two different suggestions

I used to wear either glasses or contacts when riding before I go laser surgery to correct my vision.
I found glasses were fine until a rainy day and they started to fog up but a bit of lense clear sorted that. Only trouble I had was them working their way down my nose so had to push them back whenever I stopped at lights.
Contacts too away any issues with fogging or adjustment but they tended to dry out quite quick with the breeze through my lid and having my eyes pinned open while riding quick. Eyes drops helped that though.
Overall contacts were best as I didn't have to think too much about damaging glasses or keeping them safe, etc!

@Oldman - Contacts wouldnt suit me for dirt for those reasons. I also had a pair of prescription sunnies, but last time i was at GingerCreek they came off and Garry ran over them in the 4x4. Will look into the tinted ones. I'll also grab some fog off
Storage lol - this is how i packed my old camera (then i bought a shock proof, waterproof and drop proof one lol)
@ JimZXR - i was a bit worried bout the movement of contacts. If you dont mind me asking Jim, how much did lazer surgery set you back? Ideally this would solve everything

I for the laser surgery done in the UK in April '08. It cost £2,250 but I got 0% finance on it over 24 months!
My prescription wasn't too bad but I has astigmatism in my right eye which they corrected aswell!
To be honest its been the best decision I've made since starting to ride!
It does depend on your age and prescription as to how well it'll work but I'd suggest having a consultation at least!
Hope this helps.

Contacts are difficult be it dirt or tar. On the road the wind dries them out. Nothing worse than laying it over into a fast corner as a ctc dries out, flips half over and completely obscures your vision.
Glasses work fine under a helmet. I never glasses fogging issues on the road. Visor yes, but not the glasses.
Off road, get dome goggles to put over you glasses and get used to them. 4 rides and you will be used to them.

Thanks Jim, I will certainly look into it and get a couple of quotes- Ive got time on my hands atm ..
How long did the surgery take?
Thanks Marty. Im due for a review and will prob get another pair and a pair of sunnies - Depending on how much I'll more than likely be riding with glasses for a little while (i wana get a new bike first)

I've never really had too many problems with contacts on the bike, but I have been wearing them for over 20 years.
The only real issue I've had is when I've gotten bad allergies from riding through lots of pollen. Dirt etc hasn't been an issue at all.

as a consequence of aging, i now have to wear glasses all the frigging time!
i found a pair of glasses with straight arms that you can slip on once helmet is on; just when you go to try helmets on, do the glasses thing as some fit the arms better
and i recently did a track day with said glasses on, and the only issue was them slipping down my nose under heavy braking (not dangerous, they cant go too far, just a nuisance when you really dont need it. ). i have since spoken to my optometrist about this and they have suggested different nose pads and have adjusted the arms to grip me melon better

I've worn spex for 11yrs now,and am well used to wearing them with a helmet, but it took a while to really get used to them.I think the worst part was remembering to take them off before taking my helmet off.....ouchy wah wah!!
I use stuff called Cat Crap anti fog stuff for those fogging type rainy days. It's in a little red container,10 bucks or so from my local motorbicycle retailer.
Don't know bout titanium frames, seems pretty pricey for very very little benefit.I'd suggest you at least get the flexable hinges which bend almost 90degrees outwards.Very helpful that one.
Good luck.
