Why do we Aussies pay so much? Tyre Down - Kya Racing

So I'm looking for some aids for fastening my bike to my trailer when I come across the Tyre Down from Kya Racing (
http://www.kyaracing.com.au/road_tyre_down.htm).
I couldn't help but notice that this Aussie company is selling their "Aussie designed and built" product to Australians for $190 (inc shipping)... but are selling it to Americans for $155?!
What the hell?! I am so sick of seeing products sold here at such exorbitant prices, when they're so much cheaper overseas! Half the online vendors with good prices won't freight to Aus, the others bump the price up when they detect you're shopping from Aus.
Frustrated, I wrote to Kya Racing:
"Hi Rob,
Why is this Australian product cheaper for USA orders?
Thanks,
Sparks."
The response I recieved was:
"Our pricing per locality is based on Market size and volume production and shipping. We also consider pricing of competitive products
cheers, Rob"
Which translates to:
"You're getting assfucked because that's what Australians are prepared to pay.
cheers, Rob"
And they wonder why we're all shopping online and sending our hard earned money overseas??

needed an australain machined car engine part
manufacturer wanted $450 aud + freight and a 21 day wait for delivery
reseller in pomgolia (woking, surrey) wanted $450 aud + freight (guaranted 3 day delivery)
reseller in the us (kentucky in the deeeeeeeeeeeeeep south) wanted $400 and free freight (guaranted 5 day delivery)
i phoned the manufacturer and pointed this out and asked wtf; and was told stiff, this is our price, take it or leave it!

http://www.shipito.com/ is your friend
I needed a crank and rods for a buell. Cheapest I could find that would send to AUS was $800.
Found a place in the US with a brand spanking new one for 75 USD. Got it via shipitto and $70 and a week later
it was in my hands.

It works both ways.....
I've bought Bridgestone Tyres from the USA and got very good prices & delivery service, only thing they are not made the same as the EU & AUS Bridgestones & only lasted two thirds the mileage, so they weren't such a good deal after all.
Recently, I got a quote from the UK for a OEM Triumph seat. They wanted 412 pounds for the seat & 200 pounds postage.I ended up getting the same OEM seat from Peter Stevens (Triumph) Melbourne for $460 posted for free. Just took a week longer cause P. Stevens had to get it from the UK.
Also, I have been noticing that a lot of OS stuff usually is much cheaper than it is here, trouble is everyone knows it, so they are starting to up the postage charges.
Do your research & email for a quote when purchasing OS. and watch out for multiple postage for multiple items.

Have always found the postage costs ok, a little bit excessive @ times until now! The only people on the planet that seem to have an air filter for my bike @ the mo is the ninga 650shop the postage is $120 for a $64.95 filter...I only want it posted not flown first class

..Dealing with BMC direct u would think we are negoitating for fucking hostages.

Yeah sparks..chased around everywhere, no go the previous years models not compatible.. Interestingly though after speaking to Two Brothers there juice box map loaded settings have all been done & set using the stock air filter but with their full exhaust..great ill just leave it 2 the boys in the know & follow their settings..I was only chasing the filter cause I thought i needed to match the fuel controller.
So im not to fazed now ill just sit it out to someone else has got one a a realistic postage price.

Do you still need one? I have a practically unused Tyre Down that I have no use for that you could have for $100. (We use Tyre Belts which we have found to work better, unfortunately Kya Racing complained about them being too similar to their Tyre Down and you can no longer get them.

)

Oooo I might take you up on that Nelso, let me get the rest of the gear sorted as I figure out what I'll do to the trailer first.
