Re: Tyre size ?
Only time I ever chucked a 180 on a 6in rim I rode right off the edge of the tyre.
Lucky I was awesome enough to catch it.
Exhaust, brake pedal showed the evidence

Re: Tyre size ?
There is nothing wrong with it but the tyre will just be flatter. If your comfortable with it then its all good

Re: Tyre size ?
My mechanic and a few local albury riders I've talked to said there is no probs running a 180.55 on a 6 inch rim on the road they said if u were doing a track day at phillip island use a 190.55 and if u do track day at winton use a 180.55 and I've never had a problem with this size on all my zx12 and my 14 + the bike steers fast through the local mountains with the 180 i will put a 190.55 on next c how that goes+u can't get a 190.55 pilot power only 190.50 and i wanted a 55 cheers.

Re: Tyre size ?
The 55 bit is only the sidewall height. And it's a percentage of the width.
By going the 190 the tyre "balloons" more giving better edge grip.
The 180 stretches out a becomes flatter as Blurr said
The guys who put 180's on for winton are pulling their pee pees. IMO

Re: Tyre size ?
In other words the 190/55 has more "lean" angel than a 180/55.If you want to lay the bike write down go a 190/55 as the 180 will run out!!.If your an "extremest" go a 200/55 ,but on a 14 i think you will scrape the ground way before getting the full use out of the tyres.
life starts at 200 kph!

Re: Tyre size ?
I run a 190/55 on the zx6 tracky with a skinnier rim. So get constant grief from so called mates
But I know its never
gonna run out. FX600 run 200's now
Running a 180 on a rim designed for a 190 will be easier to get the edges scrubbed in. Depends what you want but Id be running the 190 knowing thats what the rim is designed for and having plenty of margin for further lean angle
