ZXR 750L that i built

Post by duspeed »

I thought i would share some pics and info of a zxr l model i started to build 3 years ago.It started its life as a 11/92 built L1 that was the black, purple, pink colour sceme.I pulled it apart completly and started on a project that i was just going to clean up and use here and there. What happended was different. After 3 years and lots of time it is like new.All the fairings are original that have not been cracked and i decided to paint the bike similar to a zx10 after getting some prices for all the original stickers.Sourced a tank that was in perfect nick.Bought a couple of spare engines for some parts. And found some old stuff i had in the shed from my old race bike when it was new in 93.Like the dash.

So far the mods are.
Fully rebuilt engine with brand new stock camshafts for now.Ported head,Kibble and white valve springs with titanium retainer, tka kit pistons and rods, brand new gearbox,zx9 b2 model 40mm carbies, tka kit headers,zx7 6 inch rear wheel, zxr m1 forks,zx10 standard rear shock.Everything else on the bike is original zxr L parts.
Here are some pics

Next project already has been waiting 2 months for me to start.Which is another zxr L model that i got of a mate for nothing. This next one i build will be my fun track bike only.

Mate; awesome looking bike, well done!

Just got through the L1 track bike build myself so happy to pass a few PM's back and forth if you need help finding parts but from the look of that one I doubt you'll be lost!

No spare engine then?!? Need one for my spare/street fighter L2 project!

Currently working on a deal for ZXR #3!
Hopefully it'll turn into something I can put in the road for a while!

Yep the bike cost me more then what they were new on road.

Also just fitted a set of Muzzy race cams in the other day and started to tune the afrs.So far so good. The afrs are still a bit on the fat side but have another set of needles to try.
The cams really woke the engine up.

Ok I have finished the race bike and also changed a couple of things on the road bike.
Here are a couple of pics my son took a couple of weeks ago.

Basically the rad bike got a new engine it is a 800cc now also changed the rear swingarm and rear wheel and the race bike got the race engine with new cams.

The road bike has the ZX10 complete rear end.I think it is a 2010. Std zxr rear linkage and arms with a zx10 04 rear shock.Used the zx10 swing arm pivot bolt and machined up alloy inserts to fit inside the frame.
I was going to put this on the race bike but you can not use it in pre modern racing.
The race bike has the zxrL swing arm with a zx7 6 inch rear wheel.

Hope this helps Jim

That 10 'arm looks the business.

I am also a big fan of the Red/Green/White colour scheme on the 7's, top work.
