It's been a pretty awesome weather the past few days. 7pm, though would be very dark around that area still.
It would have been a challenging ride.

Yeh weathers been Brillant first real successive days so it would've been nice and dry up there.
But 7pm at the moment is completely dark still, even if you knew it like the back of your hand you wouldn't have thought you would be pushing it.
Could've been anything roo, wombat even deer up there.
Extremely sad and tragic my heart goes out to his family.

The reefton is one of those roads, where there is no error.. full stop..
U ride it to fast, or lacking the skill u should be at.... not saying he was neither, things go wrong.
Its one road ive never had a O crap, and head off in the bush to pull up, u wont getaway with it...
Sad to see..

Always sad.
I'm sure the pigs are now considering making it a 60 zone & installing cameras now.

gets dark quite fast at the moment. be easy to get caught up there in the dark if one went for a late ride.

That sucks; Stu, the police have been pulling everyone over on the Reefton and booking them for anything, and if there's nothing wrong they'll ping you for having a short fender as a safety issue, hence Wattie's comment. What our current head copper in Victoria would like to do is make motorcycles illegal, and until Ken Lay gets his wet dream come true he'll waste resources on pointless exercises like fender measurements. Encouraging rider training and driver awareness would be more effective, but wouldn't get him the same brownie points in the current "bash the bike riders" political climate.

I've not come across any unreasonable police yet here in Tas. They are no where near as unforgiving as Victoria.
