Ducati is recalling certain 2012 1199 Panigale superbikes due to the possibility of an incorrect screw being used to connect the swingarm to the rear suspension linkage. If the linkage detaches from the swingarm because of the missing crew, a “catastrophic suspension collapse may occur and adversely affect the ability to safely handle the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.”

Hi all,

new to the forum, hope I can add some knowledge. I bought a 2012 ZX10R and ashamed to say have only been
able to clock 350klm yet! Engine still needs running in! Got my letter in the mail too, the American Safety Authority
apparently came up with the evidence for the recall, after a guy crashed from oil on his rear tyre leaked from the starter area due to a slight machining overtolerance on some crankcases. This problem was first found in some bikes in Malaysia and Europe. Kawasaki investigated using test parts from both countries and confirmed some bikes were affected. Apparently 4,000 odd bikes in America will need checking, and mine too. Now for the next trick, finding a dealer that will
do the job without some ham-fisted mechanic dinting or scratching my new toy!

Mine has arrived too. Only Bikebiz and Sydney City Motorcycles left as Sydney dealers now.
