Extra police radars/lidars were set up on the OPH over the last weekend.
Reports have it that there were 5 different radar/lidar traps along the route.

Meanwhile according to the rumour mill there are an extra 10 Highway Patrol motorcycles brought on line.
An announcement was made last week.
The aim? To get motorcycle riders lane splitting and also annoy cyclists.
Apparently quite a few bikes got nailed on the ANZAC Bridge this week.

There have also been reports of Highway Patrol officers incorrectly advising riders that they require an Engineers Certificate for an aftermarket exhaust.
If you have been advised of this by a Highway Patrol officer please get in contact with the MCCofNSW as I aim to take this issue up with Transport next week.

This all falls into line with the recent restructure of the NSW Highway Patrol.
HP Officers are now out from under the direct control of the Local Area Commands (LACs) and are now under a central management.
More of these blitzes will come, you can be sure of that, in an effort to meet the increased enforcement of speed touted by the centre for road safety as the big bogey man of road accidents. This despite the fact that “Speed” is a check box on the investigating officers report and is an opinion, not a qualified result of any serious investigation.
Keep your eyes peeled for the bike coppers.

And also this one.....

Can all delegates ask around their members if anyone came off on Broughton Pass Wilton last Sunday (5 August) please?
We have reports and photos of sand on one of the corners and apparently bikes dropping like flies.
If others have come down we need to know so we can get into the relevant authorities about this.
The more the better please.

From the photos I have seen the sand was on the corner just off the bridge at the bottom on the Wilton side.

I was out doing the Putty/Broke/Wisemans route and at Broke was very kindly advised by a nice gent at the servo to turn around and head back on the Putty. Said there were cops everywhere around Kulnurra and all the way to Wollombi. I promptly went back on the Putty and didnt see a single copper.

Now maybe if they can hit the Broke to Wollombi section and catch the frickin trucks who twice in a row caome around corners ont he wrong side of the road, and very nearly taking my life away.
