96-03 clutch slave cylinder specs?

Hi Guys,

after being stuffed around waiting for a custom slider clutch to be built for my zx7 racebike, I have got to the point where I need to put it on the track to test some things whilst I wait longer for the race clutch. Everything else is ready to go, I just dont have a way of engagin/disengaging the clutch. The stock slave cylinder will not fit as I have a outboard bearing support holding the drive sprocket in the way.

So I planned on doing like the attached picture (this is only in mockup, so please ignore the shotty mounts....). As I have zero experience with hydraulic clutches, I am a bit out of my depth here. Can someone please tell me if they have the bore/throw specs on the stock cylinder so that I can get something like this to work?

Any other tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sam

Most slave cylinders have a throw-out of only 4-5mm *max*. You might be able to adapt one from another model ? Last time I did one of these, the cylinder bore as I recall was roughly 30mm ?

With your new conversion to an outboard bearing carrier - you may have to do one of 2 things:

Mount a stock s/cylinder further out with spacers, then have a custom-made clutch push-rod fabricated ?

Or - ditch the hydraulics altogether and convert to a cable operation. That would be the way I would go with this.

Anyone done a cable conversion? I would much prefer this!

Ended up making a new outboard bearing plate to get the stock slave cylinder to work, see picture below. Would still be interested in a cable clutch though?
