....
No - that is what the Chiodo brothers think these things are worth.
There is a whole world of difference between what these dicks think the market is, and what the market *actually* is.
If that Z1 in their showroom was stock (it isn't) - and it was one of the first 20 ever built (it's not).....then it would be worth what they are asking (it isn't).
The first 100 Z1's ever built had matching frame & engine numbers. None made after this first run ever did. Kawasaki would regularly take out motor assemblies and frames from the production line of both, to perform quality assurance testing. Over time, this meant that the numbers between frame and motor would vary from only a few numbers apart at the very start of production, but rapidly build into a large difference over not much time.
A variation in frame/engine numbers of up to 500 or 600 is totally acceptable and most Z nuts accept this sort of difference as *matching* numbers. If the difference is more than this - then it is likely that either the frame or the motor are not original. What it also means is that if some nob advertises a Zed as having matching numbers - and they do match - either he is a lying prick.....usual .....or he has one of the first 20 ever built ....
That Z1 in PS is *worth* probably 20k max. That is top dollar which the market can sustain. It is not *worth* 32k at all. In fact its arguable if any of these old girls are *worth* 20k on a good day. It is just that some cashed-up retirees who want to re-live their youth, can drop a lot of their superannuation cash-out on these bikes, which is pushing the prices up artificially.

well if you are happy saying no to 15 large for a bike that is not worth that much - good on you.
what do you think its worth ? 18k ? 20k ?? 25k maybe ??
Its just a standard model Zed that was not rare or special, despite all the bullshit peddled on Ebay from wankers who have NFI ( just refer to HB Bears post about a $150 clutch lever if you need more proof

).
They are a great bike, don't get me wrong. But they are simply not *worth* $15k no matter how much you want them to be *worth*. You can pick up a reasonable example on ebay or off the forums for anywhere between $3k and $6k. This mate - is what they are *worth*. The best example out there might pull $10k on a really good day.
With all due respect - you are a dill for knocking back an offer of $15k. Shoulda grabbed it with both hands.

I kick myself every time I get reminded about how much these cars are worth now.
My very first car - as an 18 year-old on his first real job and able to get a loan for $1500......
was this.
5-litre V8 with 8" chromies and 245/50 TA Radials ! sex on wheels......
I only owned this rig for about 12 months. It leaked oil pretty badly from a rear main oil seal - but fuck me it was a great car to rip around the streets with in 1980 !! I ended up busting some bits in the valve-train while dragging a mate in a V6 Capri.....a few other bits had broken as well - and I just sold it as a wreck. Kicking myself now though......

I don't know what brings back more memories the pic of the Z1 or the pic of the GTS.
I saw the opposite on ebay tonight. Great price but the bike not so mint. A ZZR1100 with a $1 no reserve auction.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/290733649742 ... 500wt_1413 its climbing fast though.
