If you have to ask this question in the first place, I think you are better off taking the bike to a mechanic to do this job.

If you are determined to do it yourself - get a manual and read the engine chapter about 6 times. This will give you enough info to do the job yourself, assuming you have the right tools as well.

please dont treat me like an idiot I have just replaced the camchain in my 2002 hayabusa and all the guides and tensioner and the crank sprocket comes off so that you can replace it with out an engine strip and I noticed the crank sprocket on the 250 is also drilled and tapped 10M/M fine but I cant get it to move so thought I would ask the question ok

no probs . Sorry I failed mindreading at school and didn't realise you were a gun mechanic.

If you have just done a Busa camchain, then the 250 should be a walk in the park.

Dont scare him off... he's bound to be a great contributor to the forum based on these initial postings :kuda:

you guys think we women know nothing, have ridden bikes for years, prepped race engines and raced a couple but this is the first kawasaki I have had that I need to work on and thought this would be the place to ask so no need to get your nappy in a knot, I had no problems getting info to do the busa chain but as I said earlier the crank sprocket does not seem to move so is there something I should be doing different cheers Tracey

generalisations like that are bound to see all our female members here knocking each other out of the way to help you with advice  not only are there a lot of chicks on this forum who do their own mechanical work but race as well - they don't make assumptions like that and they don't just barge on to a new forum and then get the shits when given some honest advice based on your question in your very first post.

You know, if you had bothered to spend a couple of minutes introducing yourself in the *Introductions* thread in the first place - and added some info about your riding history, preparing race engines ( by the way that actually means SFA. Some people prepare race engines - some prepare them to win. There is a f'n world of difference), then maybe the rest of us in here would actually have understood a bit more about you and answered your original question differently.

Like I said earlier - get a manual and read it. Cranky newbs like you who just walk into our place unannounced then carry on like a pork chop - will get the respect and assistance they deserve.
