23may05
ONE man is dead and three others injured after a spate of motorcycle accidents yesterday.
1. A Japanese man died instantly yesterday when his motorcycle collided head-on with a utility on the Nerang-Beaudesert Rd near Canungra at about 10.30am.
Police said the man, aged 36, had been staying with a tour group on the Gold Coast. He was thrown from the motorcycle and hit a tree. The driver of the ute sustained no injuries.
2. Paramedics transported a middle-aged man from the Northbrooke Parkway near Mt Glorious after he came off his motorcycle.
The man sustained lower leg fractures and was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital at about 11.50am.
3. Another motorcycle rider was taken to Gold Coast Hospital after an accident on Long Rd, Mt Tamborine, at about 2.30pm.
I passed the first accident on my way back from the Natural Arch
The black spewi was extremely worse for wear and it looked like the guy had been heading towards Nerang when the ute cut across him to head up towards Mt Tamborine. I didn`t stop as there was plenty of help on the scene and ambo's were on their way.
Condolences to family and friends
