Just watched the doco on the Britten motorcycle and John Britten. Awesome watch if you've never seen it. The bike was way ahead of its time and actually made it to the track and won, unlike many other bikes we were promised but never saw the light of day.

I was flag Marshalling at Ruapuna (Christchurch's Eastern Creek) one day when one of the original Brittens - the Red "flying wing" was having a run, a couple of years later I was out there with my Brother for a BEARS meet and saw 3 of the what you would call the current model bikes racing, my brother has some of that on video (YouTube) somewhere, it even shows Andrew Stroud or John Britten, can't quite remember, and they look similar.

I raced the World Supers Aussie 600 SS support class in 96 and Andrew was there riding the Britten. So I was lucky enough to not only see it race, but also to chat to Andrew, hear it being fired up on the rollers and....... kissed on the dick when Andrew let me not only have a sit on it, but sit on it while warming it up and let me blip the throttle a few times to get my jollies. Andrew Stroud was a really nice bloke too...... for a Kiwi

One of the Brittens was at last years Broady Bonanza being ridden around by Hugh Anderson . The old bugger nearly dropped it on the rollers

I remember reading about that bike many years ago - it was John Britten's first real attempt at something different. I am pretty sure it ran a Denco V-twin motor that JB had heavily modified - but it was not an actual Britten motor. It was one ugly mofo !

That is right Gos but the later Brittens weren't ugly by any stretch of the imagination!

yes - the later ones were beautiful ...

Britten also did a number on a TZ750 before the Denco bike - he fitted a an F1-style rear spoiler above the ducktail, and some wings on the fairing sides  this looked pretty hideous as well, got banned after only 1 or 2 races I think ?

Not a 100% sure, but the one they had at broadford last year was the one that was raced at daytona.
