Haven't seen any threads on punctures but I copped my first one the other day and wasn't sure what it was at first.
I felt the bike start handling like a pig but didn't realise it was a puncture.
So for those who have more experience on this what puncture repair kits do you recommend and advice?
I have the screw in plugs but it wasnt enough to plug the hole so got the rubber one that you put glue on the area then put a rubber plug in and nick off the excess. Has anyone ever had a patch put into the inside of the tyre?

Yep. The big rubber plugs I've used before to get me out of strife and they work well.

Get a plug stuck in from the inside and it'll be fine for the rest of the life of the tyre.

I've raced with externally inserted plugs and ridden the life of the tyre with externally inserted plugs. As long as the person doing the repair knows what they are doing, they work great. I would recommend the Rema TipTop tubeless repair kit. It works and lasts forever. Michelin also do a nice kit, but the plugs don't excite me as much as the Rema TipTop ones do. The Michelin ones just seem a little flimsy, where as the other ones are chunky big fuckers that feel better when you shove them in!

I was told by a bike shop early last year, that only the smaller plugs (3mm) are still covered by insurance. The larger (6mm) are not.... so if you bin your bike due to a blowout and they find a 6mm plug in the tyre, you may have issues.
However, I have been using the push in plugs since I got my first one in 1980 off the inventor, without any issues. He was touring Australia in an XP Falcon Wagon with about 40 plugs in each tyre. Some in the tread, some in the side walls, pretty impressive sales pitch.

Currently running around with the rear tyre plugged(internal plug fitted by Mick @ MBCT). No issues at all.

Used external plugs on several bikes and cars and only one leaked towards the end of the tyre life. Slow leak and tyre was buggered. It was also the first time I had used the plugs.

My old Bt016 that i just got rid of (centre worn at 10k) had a internal plug from day2 of getting it put on never leaked worked fine

So what do you guys do when you get a puncture on road? Do you just ride home or do you carry a repair kit & fix it on the road? Newb questions.

Yep Mothy I usually only carry plugs on longer trips. Murphy's law is that as long as you carry them you won't get a puncture.

Yeah i carry plugs in my bike. Nothing worse than being stuck in middle of nowhere
