If you have a gearsack and no kids....why would you bother with a car?

Depends if you own a jet ski
I have ridden bikes solid for the past 3 years, BUT I can always use the Mrs' car when required.
Once I get the funds and get off my ass I've gotta buy a car for new job.

If you have to buy it I hope at least they pay you an allowance for it!

I sold my car in 2006. Late 2010 I bought a ute but when after two months I was still on the first tank of petrol I sold it again (and I realised it was going to cost me over $800 in rego).
I am known for scamming lifts off my sister on particularly frosty mornings though.
It can be a bit of a shit sometimes when you want to transport bigger things but you can always get creative, or call in favours.
My lesson learnt for this week is muffin tins in a shopping bag over your wrist catch the wind really, really well
And yeah, no wife, no kids, etc

Doubt it. Ive worked for them in the past not a generous company, Cash flow's bad and the owner told me I could forget a raise while I'm doing this apprenticeship I just started

Catch 22. With a car i'm more valuable to them and will probably get more experience, without a car save a ton of money.
Back on topic Philbo, someone might have said it if you're gonna do it get a rack and or bag. So much better than just a backpack! More storage, convenient, comfortable etc. Here's the ventura bag I have on the 6, expandable, enough room for gingers trips.

i only have my bike, getting up in the morning to go to work and its raining i dont find at all fun, being late for work and having a bike is most handy, groceries can be painfull, had a guy laugh at me in rouse hill shops he was getting in his ute and i was trying to stuff my crunchy nut cornflakes into my tank bag as back pack was full.
paying next to nothing for gas is good too
im single so its not really a worry for me although i have thought of buying a 1000 dollar bomb run about car for those rainy days and grocery shopping ect
