anyone know how much roughly it would cost to get a bike from taree to melbourne? bike is a 97 zx6, mostly together and on a pallet (no wheels) might have a good track project in the works :kuda:

No wheels and on a pallet isn't bike freight it's general freight. Bike movers wheel things on and off and have bike stands.

Try general freight mobs TNT, e-go, Star Track etc.

Make sure it is actually a pallet size any overhang from pallet you will be charged for two pallet spaces,so wrap it up good,at a guess $250.00 but thats a guess, been a while since doing that freight stuff.

damn the seller says it overhangs....tnt were going to charge $597!! plus g.s.t. plus fuel surcharge, pluse everything else......i have the store at work on the job getting me some quotes hopefully some of them are reasonable. the bike needs some parts and work, but it's a good price and i dont mind a project, just the freight might make it not worth it...

I checked with a mate up that way, thought he might have got it to Sydney for free for you, but he came down last weekend, bummer.

At least you are doing your homework. Plenty of people spend money on so called cheap projects only to discover they could have bought the finished product much cheaper.

thanks for looking into it smithy5 :)
yeah it's $500 but missing frontend (triple clamps, forks, wheel, brakes) and swingarm & rear wheel, damaged stator cover, but the rest looks alright. problem is that as soon as freight is involved it's just not worth it for the same money (including parts, etc) i could buy a cheaper tracky that i dont have to assemble...ah well see what other quotes come to and go from there.....on another note, if anyone needs parts for a 97 zx6 there's one on ebay missing some stuff!!

well freight works on weight and size , obviously palletized its easier to move as someone said depot to depot is the go .
i would say 400 to 500 on distance alone sounds about right .... but you could try a furniture removalist who wants to back load from taree / newcastle area
could take some time to work it in with their schedule etc etc . if its being palletised or crated ensure its wrapped at least and secure...you get a crate from local bike shop ... let youre fingers do the talking on the blower

best of luck cheers mick
