I have been given a complete ventura bag and rack system off a honda vtr800; nice score!
my issue is i need a set of l brackets for my er6f.
i priced a set here in aus, sorry, cant buy them need to but a complete sports rack system (which includes them) which costs $280 + freight (fcuk that!)
so i did some internetting, prices vary from $153us, 89gbp, 90 euro. . . and thats before freight is added on . . . . ffs its a bent bit of very light duty pipe with some brackets welded on
can someone enlighten me as to where these companies get off charging like wounded bulls for cr@p like this?
and then they complain and whinge that the economy is up to sh1t because noone is spending money; like its MY money, give me what i want at a reasonable price and we can do business!
it a pity as i'm as busy as atm, otherwise i'd have made some already. i'll get around to it in the next 3 months.
ok, rant over

All very well saying it's just a bent bit of pipe with some brackets welded on, but as a business he has to measure and design brackets to fit every new bike that comes along, make sure that they are safe, make sure that they will last a good few without breaking, even after abuse that is outside the design criteria. Then there is surface finishing, packaging, and marketing costs. I say good on him for being able to stay in business despite attitudes like yours that wants good quality gear for Chinese ebay crap prices.
I know, show us all how easy it is and start your own business in competition with Ventura, you'll be knocking em out for $20 a set in no time, should be a millionaire by next year eh?

already made my own stuff in response to ridiculous manufacturer prices.
exhibit one - er6 mirror extenders - kawa want $100 a set - my ones cost me about 5 bucks and about 2 hours labour of me fiddling and farting around. if i had been hard at it and actually concentrated, it would have been a 20 minute job
even if i paid someone to make that for me it would cost all up $25; so where does kawa get off charging what they do? likewise ventura.
someone's making a killing on this stuff; and its at our cost.
then they whinge that the economy is in the sh1t because no-ones spending; well there's your answer

That's all very well, and they may be functional, but look at the state of them, you could not sell stuff that looks like that
And where could you get those made for $25? let me know and I will send them enough work to keep 5 men employed.

Middlemen. No actual usefulness, but skimming money as it changes hands.

Agreed. Its importers in this country making a killing on markup and the retailers (bike shops are just one example) get screwed over.

Tell you what then, you subsidise the locals and I'll buy the cheap shit - 'cause apparently I know what I'm doing.

But I do try to support local business when I can
But, I wont compromise on some things, safety being one

I bought the the same levers as Daisy, and for the same reason - the '08 Z750 doesn't come with an adjustable clutch lever.
They are identical to Pazzo's and are very well made.
Cost $38 shipped, and arrived 5 days after ordering.
I've done 6000 km with no issues.
My 2 cents ... don't knock it till you try it.

You wont buy the pazzo's because of their price, you prefer to pay for the cheap chinese versions, why are they cheap? or don't you think about that? They are cheap because the tradesmen there are paid about $1/hr, manufacturing is subsidised by their government, and their materials are substandard and not expected to meet the standards of most Western countries.
Do you expect our tradesmen to work for $1/hr? Would you care if the factories that could make them here dumped their waste in the nearest creek to save on disposal costs and used uncertified material? Because that's what it would take to compete on price with them, or don't you give a shit if other people are getting a decent standard of living, and the environment is being looked after as long as you are getting your "cheap" bling?
This is going to come back and bite us all on our collective arses, The way it is going, there will be no manufacturing left here in 20 yrs time, it's already getting hard to find quality goods in some areas, sheeple are expecting to pay fuck all for shit that lasts a year and then just buy another one. You go in to Bunnings and say ooh look, I can buy a cordless drill with 2 batteries, a charger and a set of drill bits for $25, isn't that great? no its fuckin' not, it's shit, because it is not real, as soon as the competition has gone broke from trying to make good quality gear that the sheeple think is too expensive, those prices are going to go right back up, and you wont have a choice but to pay top dollar for throwaway crap.
