04 ZX10 must have mods?

I'm already doing -1 in front (leaving back as-is). First gear is so tall it's laughable and easy to select by mistake. Guess that means I also need a gear indicator.

Anything else? Strictly on a budget with this one, but I've added a damper (probably a GPR v4) and ZX14 nissins to the list, which seem to be the must-haves. It's true the stock brakes just do not work on this bike...

PS this is for Eastern Creek, but I'll be keeping it for occasional road use so it needs to do double duty.

Braided lines, damper, nissins and a slip on is all that's required on the Crim.

Suspension mods of you want to make it nicer. :)

iamwithstupid.gif but I would add the -1 on the front sprocket and drop the front end 6mm. Mine can run wide out of corners unless the front is lowered.

I never changed the gearing on mine so can't comment. But yeah, I think mine was down 5mm at the front too. And Madkaw
Should chime in soon, I thin the rear may have had a couple of washers above the shock also.

Yeah, I forgot to add that the arse end is up a bit as well, but I don't know by how much. Mine has -1 on the front and +1 on the rear but it's also a 520 chain. When Russ had it he had -1 front and +2 on the rear, which I would be happy to go to, but it was cheaper to get the -1 +1 kit.

I have a Hyperpro Damper and mounting kit if your keen, plus I think a Puig Double Bubble screen.

I ordered an EK ZZZ chain (525 pitch), and 16/39 sprockets, mostly due to minor road use, and admittedly it's already wheelie happy so that played on my mind a bit. Already has a slip-on. Was going to pick up a K&N when I do the oil change shortly.

So just need to pickup a damper, some braided lines, ZX14 Nissins, lower forks, raise ride height and she'll do for now. Should be able to squeeze that past the missus on safety grounds. 8)

Keen on both counts Glen, cheers.

OK damper ordered. Missus convinced me to buy new once I told her it's function, funny that. plus a bunch of other stuff.

Just asking about colour availability on brake lines and trying to screw down a seller on ZX6R calipers, then I can sit back and wait for the packages to roll in.

This takes me to:
EK ZZZ chain with 16/39. I'm sort of regretting not going up at least one in the rear though but baby-steps, I can change it later.
Muzzy no-cut crash knobs
GPR v4 damper
K&N filter (old filter looked like it'd flown through a beehive, a few dust storms, and a forest. I'm amazed any air got through that thing)
Dumped the glycol and replaced with water wetter, 10 degrees cooler!!
Driven mirror block-offs
ZX6R Nissin calipers (direct bolt-on)
Goodridge braided lines front and back
Smoke/Clear indicators and all new plain black fairing bolts (yeah i know it's "bling" but meh I wanna)
Speedo healer

That'll do me apart from a stock suspension tweak.. no full system, no dyno... I'll learn to ride it, then sell it at some point for a new one with traction control and all that jazz... Still keen on that screen though Glen if it's in good nick, and I'll probably do the 1/5th insert once I get used to keeping the front wheel (mostly) down with the new gearing.

Must say this has been a pretty good find. Clean as a whistle when I stripped it down, it might not have had many washes, and *ahem* maybe the air filter could've done with a swap-out a bit sooner, but she's obviously been well kept and maintained. Oh and the rest of the frame is in great nick, so happy camper.

It might be worth shooting zeno a pm to see if one of these springs will transfer over
to the stock shock. Ive got an ohlins rear on my zx9r. Unzeno'ed and ive messed round with the clickers
till it felt good. The difference between the stock shock and the ohlins is veeeeeery noticeable at the track.
Also, the offer still stands with borrowing my trailer. Im looking at April before I can do another track day.

Cheers guys thanks for the offers... I must admit it's all a bit voodoo to me. I did ask for the mechanic to mess with the suspension on the 12 and try to get the SAG fixed, and all I know is after that it held a line rather than running wide, and just felt "stiffer" and more "planted" all round. I do know that the 12 had some crazy person loose on the fork settings from previous owner though. :? The 10 seems to be understeering at the moment so I definitely need something done. I'll speak to zeno.

I don't have a tow bar yet but once I get one it'd be awesome if I could trade a slab or something for a trailer loan, cheers.

Hey has anyone ever added an extra 2 links to the chain when you replace em?

I'll have a look for the screen mate. I'm pretty sure it's stored in my garage and it will be in as new nick. I've also got a single seat cowl although it's 05 Green.

I've got a trailer as well if you need to borrow one

if you're replacing the chain, they normally have a few extra links anyway.

just dont remove as many. 8)
